A Golf Holiday in North Cyprus: Korineum, Green Fees and Where to Stay

Golf is the single most common reason guests pick Esentepe over Kyrenia. The Korineum Golf Club sits in the foothills just above the village, with the Besparmak mountains on one side and the Mediterranean on the other, and it is a genuinely good 18-hole championship course.

The course

It plays across the slope rather than around a flat resort, which means elevation changes on most holes and a view on nearly all of them. It is challenging without being punishing, and the greens are kept properly year round. There is a driving range, a practice green and a clubhouse restaurant that non-golfers use for the terrace.

What it costs

Green fees here are noticeably below comparable courses in Spain or Portugal, and the gap widens if you play several rounds — weekly and multi-round rates are worth asking about at the pro shop. Buggy and club hire are available, so you do not have to fly with a bag.

When to play

• October to May — the real golf season. Comfortable temperatures, green fairways, and you can play through the middle of the day.
• June to September — book an early tee time. By eleven it is 35°C and the round becomes an endurance exercise.
• December to February — still very playable at 15-18°C, and the quietest and cheapest weeks of the year.

Where to stay

Most of our villas are in Esentepe, which puts the first tee within five to ten minutes. That matters more than it sounds for an early tee time in summer — the alternative is a half-hour drive from Kyrenia before you have had coffee.

For a golf group specifically, look for a three or four-bedroom villa with a private pool: somewhere to cool off after a round, space to spread out, and a kitchen so breakfast happens before the drive rather than instead of it. Our villa checklist covers what to confirm before booking.

Practical notes for a golf trip

• Book tee times ahead in spring and autumn — the course is busiest then.
• Clubs can be hired; check with the club rather than assuming.
• Bring more sun protection than you think, even in winter. There is little shade on the course.
